RO: Decembrie 2014 a fost luna proiectelor noi, inedite și … inventate. Și mi-a plăcut enorm să creionez, să testez și să lucrez noi modele. Da, am avut emoții când mi-am dat seama că trebuie să creez 3 tipuri de papuci Cars: pentru el, pentru ea și pentru cel mic.

Papucii de casă croșetați, inspirați de filmele Cars – cars crochet slippers – i-am conceput în vreo 2 săptămâni, după nenumărate încercări, am croșetat și-am desfăcut de vreo 10 ori, nemulțumită fiind de felul în care se aranjau pe picior. Într-un final am decis să folosesc fir dublu de acril și o croșetă mai mare – 5 mm.

Modelul e ușor de reprodus, o pereche e gata în vreo 3 ore cu toate detaliile croșetate și cusute.

EN: Last december was full of new, exciting and invented projects. I had to improvise and make up new patterns, some of which you will see in my etsy shop soon enough. I loved working on this Cars projects, I loved the process of trying to put together a pattern that would be suitable both for male and female feet. And yes, I was pretty nervous about making slippers for a whole family: for the hubby, the wife and the child.

So after a lot of testing, in 2 weeks I managed to get the right yarn and the perfect shape. Using double strand of yarn and a 5 mm crochet hook, the slippers are amazing.

The pattern is quite easy, although it took me a while till I managed to get the right increasing stitches to make these slippers look and feel good when worn. One can make a pair of these in just 3 hours.

1. Colorful hats and mittens

The only season when you can have a bad hair day and hide it under a hat is winter! Last month I made 2 biking sets for two wonderful ladies. Among Red Heart Detroit and Red Heart Bella, I also used Red Heart Reflective Yarn, neon green color. Awesome yarn, I tell ya!

2. Hoodies!

I love wearing hoodies! It is so comfy to wear a hoodie or a cowl with a hood, especially when winter is playing tricks with the temperature. If you’re the „I wear a hat from autumn till spring” kind of person, you have no idea what I am talking about. But for most girls, the undecided weather is sometimes a pain in the … knee. In Oradea the weather is acting like a princess: during the day the sun is shinning, it almost feels like spring time, once the night sets in, the snow starts to fall. By the next morning, almost all snow vanishes. Imagine that! :))

So yeah, I love wearing hoodies and cowls This cowl with hoodie was made with Alize Superlana Maxi, a wonderful yarn. It drapes so well and it is so warm!

3. Crochet Slippers!

OMG, where do I begin?! I love crochet slippers. Comfy, easy to wear and these homemade shoes keep my feet warm. I love, love, love crochet slippers! Almost all the slippers from the photo were made with Red Heart Detroit yarn.

5. Crochet blanket

Who doesn’t love to cuddle under a blanket, with a hot tea and a book? Crochet blankets are amazing, warm and suitable to use in all seasons.

I fell in love with this technique. A few months ago I made a beanie for myself, with Double Crochet (DC) in the 3rd loop. It looks pretty, it is a good technique for spring-summer slouchy hats, but a beanie worked with half double crochet (HDC) in the 3rd loop looks even more pretty.

The finished product looks like it’s knitted and it’s very flexible. I just love how this technique looks. I even made several other beanies and mittens, soon to feature on this blog.

How does it work? You make regular HDC in the loop that is below the backloop. I made the hat working in the round, because I really do not like to see where a row begins and ends.

Last month I made a black, basic beanie (with a matching beard) using just HDC in the 3rd loop. The beanie looks amazing:

RO: Din când în când, cam o dată pe an, îmi dau seama că apartamentul meu devine tot mai mic. Cred că pereții sunt înghițiți de mormanele de fire și nasturi pe care le adun constant. Dulapurile-s pline cu proiecte începute, în lucru și terminate. 

După îndelungi discuții cu mâța casei, care între 2 sforăituri și-un căscat mi-a dat de înțeles că al său fund blănos are nevoie de mai mult spațiu, am decis să mărit proiectele terminate!

Așadar, azi 30 ianuarie deschid ușile atelierului virtual și primesc toți pețitorii care vor să-mi mărite proiectele croșetate în familii bune și decente.

Condiții minime de măritiș: 

- partenerii trebuie să aibă simțul umorului – toate proiectele mele se potrivesc cel mai bine oamenilor veseli, care știu că viața ar fi prea urâtă fără umor. Sau piper mozaic.

- proiectele sunt curate, spălate, parfumate și frumos împachetate. Numai bune de dus acasă!

1. Șal croșetat Elise

Șal croșetat manual din lână moale și pufoasă. Îi căutăm o parteneră iubitoare de munte și ieșiri la iarbă verde, unde-și poate arăta cel mai bine utilitatea: să încălzească o piele fină de femeie frumoasă.

2. Set băscuță și mitene din bumbac

Just bought a batch of Lana Grossa yarn, white and blue. Wonderful texture,  light and soft. Feels like cotton, although it is a mix of 80% wool with 20% polyamide.

The current project is soon to be a stylish blouse for a XS/S girl

I love how this Lana Grossa Soft Sock Yarn feels like, especially because the whole project is made with HDC in third loop. Cannot wait to finish this blouse and try it on. It should fit me perfectly!

RO: Presupun că nu-s singura care lucrează mai multe proiecte în același timp. Mă plictisesc lucrând aceeași tehnică mai multe zile la rând, așa că-mi place să alternez. Azi o jucărie, mâine o bluză, poimâine o fustă, apoi iarăși jucăria. De altfel, am observat că stilul acesta de munca e mai productiv pentru jucăriile pe care le fac din imaginația mea, deoarece după 2 zile pot analiza mult mai obiectiv jucăria – și de obicei găsesc ceva ce nu-mi place, desfac, refac etc.

Ultimul proiect în lucru e tot din fire Lana Grossa, cu tehnica Moss Stitch, o tehnică minunată ce aduce cu tricotatul. Deși firul e compus din 80% lână și 20% polyamidă, e moale și potrivit chiar și pentru o eșarfă bărbătească.

EN: I presume (and hope!) that I am not the only crocheter who has multiple projects on her hooks. I get bored working on the same project for days in a row, so I like to switch among projects. Today I’m working on a new amigurumi, tomorrow crocheting a blouse, the day after tomorrow working on a skirt and then back to the amigurumi. I noticed that switching projects is more productive, especially for toys designed by me. Two days of working on something else clears my head and I can analyze the amigurumi with fresh eyes, noticing anything that doesn’t fit, frogging etc.

My latest WIP is a man scarf Lana Grossa yarn with Moss Stitch, a wonderful stitch. The finished project looks like it is knitted. Although the yarn is 80% wool and 20% polyamide, the thread is soft and suitable for a man scarf.

RO: Am povestit deja că-mi place să lucrez câte 3-4 proiecte în același timp, alternându-le pentru a evita monotonia și rutina. Toamna trecută mi-am făcut un șal frumos din firul Alize Angora Gold, un fir degrade din acril, mohair și lână – superb modelul, excelent pentru serile răcoroase de vară/primăvară, iar toamna și iarna e numai bun pe post de eșarfă. Dacă nu ai alergie la mohair, desigur.

Am decis să refac șalul Elise cu un fir interesant, Alize Şal, e compus din acril și fir metalic – care-i oferă o strălucire aparte. Va ieși un șal excelent pentru o ținută elegantă de seară.

EN: I’ve already told you about how I like to work on multiple projects, alternating them in order to keep away the routine and monotony. Last fall I made myself a beautiful shawl of Alize Angora Gold yarn in multiple colors. The pattern is wonderful and the shawl is perfect for chilly summer/spring evenings and a great scarf for autumn and winter. If you’re not allergic to mohair, of course

So I’ve decided to use the same Elise Shawl pattern and make another one with Alize Șal yarn, composed of 95% acril and 5% metalic – which gives the yarn a particular glow. I believe the finished project will be spectacular, perfect for an evening gown.

RO: E ultima sută de metri pentru cadouri de Valentine’s Day, Ballentine’s Day sau cum vrei să numești ziua de 14 februarie (apropos, pică exact sâmbătă, paaartyyy!!!!). Mi s-a atras atenția că n-am scris nimic despre produsele de Valentine’s Day sau de mărțișor pe care le-am pregătit.

Prefer să lucrez obiecte unice și personalizate, mă încăpățânez să NU fac în serie sute de produse. „Handmade” înseamnă creativitate, imaginație și unicitate. Caracteristicile acestea se pierd când ești forțat să lucrezi sute de produse într-un timp scurt. De aceea, de Mărțișor voi dărui un număr limitat de mărțișoare realizate după niște idei crețe ce-au apărut într-o seară, după o cină copioasă și-un vin rose excelent. Poate le voi pune pe blog în zilele viitoare.

În timp ce eu mă lupt cu imaginația și croșeta, pentru a obține un LumberKitty perfect (toate la vremea lor!), colega Cati a și meșterit cadourile perfecte pentru Valentine’s Day și mărțișor.

Ia-le până sunt pe stoc, așa cum precizam mai sus, lucrăm cu stocuri limitate pentru a păstra maximum de calitate al produselor noastre.

We usually work on a limited series of items, I personally am very stubborn in my idea of not making hundreds of crocheted products in a short amount of time. Handmade means creativity, imagination and one of a kind. These important features are lost when one works too many items in a very short period of time. Plus, it is quite boring …

My „Amigurumi to make” list just got a tiny bit smaller after I was able to cross the Crochet SpongeBob SquarePants toy off of it. I found  several patterns on Ravelry, but then I decided I can improvise and make a SpongeBob of my own. And I am glad I did it, because it really was a very nice amigurumi to make.

For my first crochet Spongebob Squarepants I used a 3 mm crochet hook and Catania yarn. The finished toy measures about 20 cm.

I love how my SpongeBob SquarePants turned out!

RO: Săptămâna trecută a fost musai să organizez o „joacă” în atelier, cu fire colorate, nasturi și mărgele. Am făcut martisoare colorate. Vremea întunecată, ploioasă și rece a fost mai ușor de suportat așa.

RO: Până vremea se hotărăște dacă vrea să țină cu noi sau cu urșii, ne-am apucat de crosetat rochii. Că odată și-odată tot va ieși soarele și ne va încălzi membrele înghețate.

Două modele drăguțe au ieșit zilele acestea din atelier și pregătim altele, la fel de drăguțe și elegante. Ba chiar mi-am făcut curaj și-am început o rochie pentru mine. Că așa-i șade bine unei femei, în rochie și-n pantofi eleganți. Bine, și cu părul aranjat, dar asta-i o altă discuție …

Setul verde e realizat din acril Red Heart Soft Baby, e un material fin și moale. Lucrat cu croșeta de 4 mm.

Iar rochia cu bretele înflorate e din bumbac Alize Cotton Gold, cu marginile din bumbac Catania. Tot croșeta de 4 mm am folosit-o. Am improvizat cât am putut de mult, fără a urma un model/schemă anume. Pentru partea de sus am folosit Moss Stitch, iar pentru partea de jos am ales tehnica shells. Tare mult îmi place cum se așază.

EN: Until this weather will make up its mind, we got busy crocheting spring dresses. In the end the sun will rise and warm the earth and our frozen limbs.

In the last few days we’ve worked two lovely dresses and we’re currently working on several others. One is for me, because I can crochet a dress for myself. Dunno when it will be finished, but at least its a work in progress. A woman looks good in a dress and with elegant shoes. Maybe with a little bit of hairstyle and makeup, but that is not really my area of expertise.

The green set is worked with Red Heart Soft Baby, a wonderful soft yarn. I used the crochet hook of 4 mm.

The second dress, with straps made of shells, is made of Alize Cotton Gold, the shells are made from Catania cotton yarn. Yes, I used the same crochet hook, of 4 mm. I really do not have a pattern for this dress, I made up as I worked it. For the upper part I used the Moss Stitch, making the lower part out of shells. I like how it drapes.

RO: Povestea Nadiei, papusa crosetata

Îi plac poveştile cu necuvântătoare, salvează fiecare buburuză care-i trece pragul şi consideră că până şi gândacii dezgustători au dreptul să trăiască, dar departe de casa sa.

Nadia, bibliotecară în secţiunea Istorie, a crescut cu basmele copilăriei. Mult timp a crezut că balaurii sunt fiinţe rele, cu 3 capete şi puteri nepământești, care distrug oamenii şi visele acestora. Toată copilăria a evitat să intre în poduri şi beciuri întunecoase, să nu cumva să dea nas în nas cu vreun balaur arţăgos.

Anii au trecut, iar Nadia a crescut de la basmele la filosofie şi istorie. Aşa a realizat că imaginarii balauri sunt, de fapt, limitele pe care ni le impunem singuri. Sunt eşecurile în care ne împiedicăm, balaurii sunt fobiile pe care nu avem curajul de a le înfrânge.

Acum Nadia studiază istoria egipteană. Visęază să ajungă în marile piramide, să lucreze cot la cot cu arheologii pentru a învăța cât mai multe din istoria minunatului popor egiptean.

Cu alte cuvinte, nu-ți irosi visurile.

EN: The story of Nadia, crochet amigurumi doll

She always loved stories about dragons and fairies, she used to save each and every ladybug that would cross her way and she even thought cockroaches are ok, but not near her house.

Nadia is a librarian in the History department. Growing up with fairy tales and wonderful Grimm stories, she used to believe in dragons and in the three headed basilisk who had unbelievable powers that could ruin people and all of their dreams with just one gasp.

When she was a child she used to run away whenever she was required to enter an attic or a dark cellar, she always thought those were the basilisk’s favorite place to nap.

Years went by, Nadia grew up and gave up fairy tales. She found philosophy and history. This way Nadia realized that basilisks are not real and the only dragons we should be afraid, are those in out own mind. We are too afraid to be happy and pursue our dreams, she soon came to learn.

Now Nadia is studying again, egyptian history. She wants to see the great pyramids, to work with experienced archaeologists and learn as much as she can about the wonderful egyptian people.

So don’t let your dreams vanish. Dream big!

RO: Prima mea bluză de primăvară/toamnă croșetată dintr-un fir degrade și monocrom, marca Alize Cotton Gold, cu croșeta de 5 mm. După câteva purtări și spălări – la mașina de spălat, cu apă rece -, bluza arată impecabil și-și păstrează ținuta. Mânecile sunt trei sferturi. Am avut nițel emoții la început, mi-era teamă să nu se decoloreze firul, însă s-a comportat exemplar, chiar și când am spălat bluza cu dezinfectant anti-acarieni pentru rufe.

Inițial am croșetat-o pentru mărimea 36, improvizând pe parcurs pentru a se potrivi și unui 38. Bluza a fost începută tip raglan, fără a uni rândurile – așadar, nu există dunga aceea care apare la unirea rândurilor.

Fiind un fir mai gros, bluza cade frumos pe talie și nu se ridică în timpul mersului. Detest bluzele prea strâmte pe trup, care se ridică scoțând la iveală pielea mult prea albă pentru vremurile noastre superficial bronzate.

Cum vă place?

EN: This is my first crochet blouse made for me. Made of Alize Cotton gold yarn, with a 5 mm crochet hook. It is perfect both for spring and autumn. I did wear it and washed it several times – even in the washing machine, in cold water – and it still looks and feels great to wear.

The sleeves are 3/4, I thought it will look better this way. At first I tested the yarn, I was afraid the color would wash on other clothes, so the first time I washed it manually. But the yarn is amazing, the color looks just as bright as it did when I bought it.

Initially, I started this raglan blouse for a size 36, but then I improvised and added a few more rows to make it a bit bigger, so it would also fit a size bigger, a 38. I worked it in continuous rounds.

The yarn is quite thick, so the blouse drapes wonderful on my skinny body. There is one thing I hate about tight clothes, the fact that when I walk, it always lifts up, exposing my too pale skin. So, I really like this blouse cause it stays in place, not exposing my white skin.

RO: Dintre toate proiectele pe care le lucrez, cel mai mult îmi place să fac jucarii crosetate și pături. Sunt … relaxante, probabil cele mai relaxante proiecte. Și-i permit creativității să zburde, să testeze, să încerce, să deșire și să se înnoade același lucru în 10 moduri diferite și trăznite.

Pentru acest proiect cadou – Rabbids Invasion, am căutat modele și-am dat de un blog excelent. Primul invadator alb l-am făcut după modelul de pe blog, pe cel de-al doilea l-am improvizat. Ca să fie totuși puțin diferiți. Și tare bine-au ieșit.

Am folosit bumbac semimercerizat și croșeta de 3 mm, cu muuuuultă umplutură antialergică.

Mie-mi place cum au ieșit. Vouă?

EN: Of all my projects I am working, I enjoy making amigurumi and blankets. I find them relaxing. I think amigurumis and blankets are the most soothing projects for me, given the fact that I crochet as a way of blowing off stress. Perhaps another reason why I enjoy these projects is that it allows my imagination to run free, to improvise, to test and try, to unravel and make the same thing in 10 different cure and cool ways.

For these gifts, I googled for patterns of amigurumi Rabbids Invasion and I found a wonderful and excellent blog. The first rabbid is made using this pattern, the second is … a bit improvised. I had to make them a bit different, since these were gifts for a brother and a sister.

I used cotton yarn, as I always do for amigurumi, and my 3 mm crochet hook. And lots and lots of non allergenic stuffing.

Here are a few crochet projects I finished last month. I love it when people say: „make it look good” and they allow me to pour my creativity in my crochet projects. This way the amigurumi are much more fun for me. And the result is amazing.

For example, this crochet doll is Tess, a salsa dancer. Or it is a salsa dancer in my imagination. Made of cotton yarn, with non allergenic stuffing and acrylic red hair. I loved this project!

These two crochet minions were a lovely gift for a smart little girl, I was told. I had so much fun making these two. 100% cotton yarn and non allergenic stuffing.

And, although it’s not crochet I cannot wait to write about this. This is my first sewing project, a polka dot skirt made for myself. After watching a couple of youtube tutorials, I managed to make this cute skirt. It’s not perfect, but for me it’s a first small successful step.

Summer, sun, hot weather, pool, swimming suit, a very comfy chair … can you guess where I’m going with this? Yes, sun burns! Oh, those horrible experiences that leave the skin all red and painful. When you’ll finally get rid of all that pain, the itching starts. And then the skin sheds. It seems like a never ending story.

I love summer, but I am not the kind of person who likes to sit near the pool like a chicken in the oven, getting that perfect tan. My skin is almost always tanned with stripes, because the only way I can get a tan is if I fall asleep in the sun. Which happens once every few years, no matter how much sunblock I use.

I was planning on writing about a few cute projects I worked on during these last two weeks, but then I fell asleep on the edge of the pool. And everything changed, all of my commissions are behind schedule now and I have no pictures with my latest projects. Because its really hard to shoot when all of your body stings or itches. :))) Oh well, next time I’ll use 80 FPS sunblock.

The moral for me is: no matter how good it might feel, do not fall asleep while crocheting under the hot, summer sun!

You know that feeling when you are very tired but super excited at the same time? Tired because of huge amount of work completed in a very short amount of time but super excited because of all the caffeine you had to drink to keep the energy levels high? Well, this is me pretty much every time I have cute projects to complete.

I just finished a wonderful project, a white summer bolero. It is trully wonderful, sadly I cannot show you pictures because unless it is worn by somebody, it doesn’t look that pretty if it’s just laid out on the bed or on a hanger. This project seemed like a never ending story, because the edging is very delicate. But I love, love, love how it turned out. Here’s a sneak peak:

Am I the only crafter who starts working on a project and then when I’m about to finish it, I start working on another project, because I got bored of the first project? Some say I resemble the behaviour of my cat. But I am pretty sure my teeth are not as sharp as hers and I am very sure I do not sleep 18 hours a day! Although sometimes I wish I could sleep for 10 hours straight!

Because I am high on caffeine, I just finished a pattern for a pair of wonderful and very cute baby booties. As soon as I’ll finish processing the pictures, it will be up on etsy.

In the meantime, I think you’ll love this idea of a headband for a baby. Just chain 15 and single crochet in the 6th chain from hook. Then  ch 3, skip 2 sc and single crochet in the 3rd sc. Repeat till the end. Then ch 3 and sc in the second ch from the ch 3 in the previous row. Work as many rows as you need to in order to get the desired length of the headband. You can add buttons to close it or a piece of elastic, its up to you. Add a crochet flower – here is a tutorial for a multi colored flower – and there you have it: a wonderful handmade headband.

RO: V-am mai povestit cât de mult îmi plac oamenii care-mi oferă ocazia să-mi las imaginația să zburde și să creez modelele mele? Wohooo!, la cât mai mulți și cât mai multe astfel de comenzi personalizate!
Rochița minion crosetata pentru o fetiță de un an e un exemplu perfect. Am folosit atât croșeta de 4 mm, cât și pe cea de 5 mm, întrucât am combinat fire de bumbac de diverse grosimi.

Pentru croșeta de 4 mm am folosit firul Schachenmayr Catania galben și negru, optând pentru Cotton Pearl de la Performance pentru croșeta de 5 mm. Catania e un fir drag mie, îl folosesc mereu pentru amigurumi, însă Cotton Pearl a fost o noutate. Și o surpriză foarte plăcută. Se lucrează bine – deși, recomand a folosi croșeta metalică, cea de lemn s-ar putea să agațe, iar firul să se desfire, întrucât nu e exagerat de răsucit. Am spălat rochița manual – eram curioasă să văd dacă se decolorează ori dacă-și pierde ținuta. Dar, asemenea oricărui fir de bumbac, intră ușor la apă, apoi își revine la forma inițială de îndată ce e purtat.

Un fir pe care cu siguranță îl voi mai comanda, chiar dacă trebuie să aștept câteva săptămâni livrarea de peste hotare!

Cum vă place rochita minion crosetata?

EN: Not long ago I wrote about how much I love it when customers give me the opportunity to create my very own patterns and projects. Wohooo! I just wish more people would do that!

This crochet minion dress was created after a wonderful lady told me: „Can you please make a minion dress for a sweet baby girl? Her parents are huuuge Minions fans!”. So after a few pencil sketches, I came up with this lovely crochet minion dress.

The minion baby dress was made of cotton, Schachenmayr Catania – yellow and black -, and Cotton Pearl by Performance – the blue yarn. I used both the 4 mm and the 5 mm crochet hooks, as the yarns do not have the same thickness. Cotton Pearl is a new yarn for me, but I fell in love with it. It’s soft, I loved how easy it is to work with it and after washing – I hand washed the dress to see if the water would turn blue – the dress was just as cute as before washing.

I really love this yarn. Definitely will buy more, even though I will have to wait for the shipping several weeks.
